Today we will take a look at one of the most beautiful and expensive types of Persian rugs. Qom rugs – made in the Qom Province of Iran, around 100 km south of Tehran. In this area, rug weaving was not a major industry until 100 years ago when the luxurious silk and wool rugs of Qom started to become famous for their high quality and value. These pieces of art are also considered a very good investment because their value is constantly increasing.
The designs usually include the tree of life and medallion motifs. The shades are similar to the most popular colors of Persian rugs – blue, red and ivory. Another typical feature is that these rugs are usually smaller than other types of Persian carpets and are often places on walls as part of the interior decoration.
